The increased focus on actions of law enforcement in recent months has fueled a huge increase in public attention to video coverage of law enforcement. On one hand, there is a huge increase in publicly-created footage via cell phone of police stops or pursuits.
And the second focus has been to the issue of police body-cams. Incidents have happened, such as the ones in Ferguson and in New York, where body-cam footage could have made all the difference in the accusations that resulted. In other cases, public access to dashboard camera footage has vindicated police action.
