Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head…

Mayor Mark Funkhouser on Monday lashed out at his park board for showing insufficient support for his agenda and accused one of them of corruption.

“I need you to be seen as clearly aligned with me,” Funkhouser said, emphasizing his Schools First initiative, which would use city money to help improve schools.

The four members of the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners at the meeting in the mayor’s office, clearly surprised by the attack, defended themselves and an absent colleague.

Funkhouser acknowledged his conversation was rude and said it was unfortunate the presence of a quorum meant they couldn’t have it “without a damn reporter in the room.”

What can I say? Thank God for the sunshine law! Happy sunshine week next week, Mr. Mayor.  Prepare for rain on your parade.
